Setup guide
Reolink Wired/PoE cameras (RTSP)
Local RTSP/ONVIF stream on wired/PoE models. Main path /h264Preview_01_main, sub-stream /h264Preview_01_sub, port 554; local camera account credentials (Reolink app). Free microSD/NVR recording.
Worth knowing : Battery/WiFi (Argus, Atlas) and 4G/LTE models do NOT expose a standalone stream — a Reolink hub or NVR is required.
Getting started
How to set it up
Before you start
- A WIRED or PoE camera. Battery (Argus, Atlas) and 4G/LTE models expose no standalone stream: they need a Reolink Home Hub or NVR. E1/Lumus supports neither HTTP/HTTPS, RTMP, RTSP nor ONVIF — no setting will add it.
- The RTSP port enabled on the camera. Reolink states plainly: "For some of the models, the RTMP, HTTP, RTSP, and ONVIF ports are disabled by default." Do not assume it is open.
- Where to enable it: Reolink app (4.59+) → Advanced Network Settings > Server Settings; Windows client → Device Settings > Network > Advanced > Server Settings; browser → Network > Advanced > Server Settings > Set Up.
- If the camera sits behind a Reolink NVR or Home Hub, ports are opened on the NVR/Hub, NOT in the camera's own settings.
- The LOCAL camera account credentials (set during initial setup), not the Reolink cloud account.
- The camera's local IP address, ideally reserved on your router.
Steps
- In Noviscan's Sources screen, search for "Reolink": the form is pre-filled (port 554, TCP transport).
- Enter the camera's local IP address and the local camera account credentials.
- Stream path: Reolink today documents /Preview_01_main (main stream) and /Preview_01_sub (sub-stream). The historical /h264Preview_01_main — the one the catalogue pre-fills — is still accepted by many firmwares: if one is refused, try the other.
- The sub-stream (_sub) is lighter: prefer it if the network or the machine struggles.
- Save: the source tests the connection.
If something goes wrong
- Authentication refused: use the local camera account, not the Reolink cloud account.
- Nothing answers on port 554: RTSP ships disabled on part of the range — open it (see prerequisites) before concluding it is broken.
- Camera behind an NVR or Home Hub: open the ports on the NVR/Hub; the camera's own settings have no effect then.
- Path refused: try the other spelling (/Preview_01_main ↔ /h264Preview_01_main). Both circulate depending on firmware age.
- Battery camera behind a Hub/NVR: Reolink caps each preview session at 5 minutes, after which the camera sleeps and drops RTSP. Waking is slow: raise the RTSP timeout to at least 20 s.
- No port setting visible in the interface: that switch only exists on models with smart detection (person/vehicle/pet); on the others the ports are open with no setting.
