Hikvision IP cameras/NVRs (RTSP/ONVIF)

Local RTSP/ONVIF stream (S/G/T). Main /Streaming/Channels/101, sub-stream /Streaming/Channels/102, port 554. Local-first, Hik-Connect optional.

IntegrationLocal RTSP/ONVIF stream

Worth knowing : Heavy security baggage (CVE-2021-36260, unauthenticated RCE) and US NDAA §889 ban: isolate on a VLAN, never expose to the Internet.

How to set it up

Before you start

  • An active administrator account on the camera (created at first activation via the Hik-Connect app, the SADP Tool, or the web interface) — Noviscan does not create it.
  • ONVIF enabled if you prefer that protocol: Configuration → Network → Advanced → Integration Protocol → ONVIF, with a dedicated ONVIF user — several models ship with ONVIF disabled by default.
  • The camera and Noviscan on the same local network.

Steps

  1. Note the camera's local IP address (SADP Tool, Hik-Connect app, or your router's DHCP table).
  2. In Noviscan's Sources screen, search for "Hikvision" and select the model: the form is pre-filled (port 554, path /Streaming/Channels/101).
  3. Enter the IP address, then the administrator username and password (or the dedicated ONVIF user if you go through ONVIF).
  4. Keep /Streaming/Channels/101 for the main stream; /Streaming/Channels/102 is the sub-stream, lighter to analyse.
  5. Save: the source tests the connection and reports any credential or path error straight away.

If something goes wrong

  • ONVIF authentication refused even though the password is correct: check that ONVIF is actually enabled and that a dedicated ONVIF user exists — several models ship with it disabled.
  • RTSP connection refused after a factory reset: the administrator password must be set again before any access (SADP Tool or Hik-Connect app).
  • Model missing from the 1442 references in the community catalog cited as a source: /Streaming/Channels/101 and /102 remain the standard Hikvision starting point, to confirm on the unit.
